The Tobacco 

 Tobacco was offered to the spirits before all religious ceremonies. is one of the most sacred of plants for Native people. It is said to be the main activator of all plants. It was given to us so that we can communicate with the Spirit world and when you use it, all things begin to happen. Tobacco is always offered before picking medicines(plants).

When you offer tobacco to a plant and explain your reasons for being there, the plant will let all the plants in the area know your intentions and why you are picking them, tobacco is used first as an offering for everything and in every ceremony. Going to ceremonies you would offer tobacco to the Elder leading those ceremonies along with an honoring gift. This announces your intention and the Elders may ask you of your intentions with this offering.

The universal method of inviting people to feasts or notifying them of ceremonies was the delivery of a small amount of dry tobacco by a runner sent out for that purpose. Ceremonies using tobacco invoke a relationship with the energies of the universe, and ultimately the Creator, and the bond made between earthly and spiritual realms is not to be broken.

Incense, Frankincense, Myrrh, Copal excellent to purify the energy of spaces, places and objects.

Incense

Burning of incense is one of the most ancient customs in religious and spiritual practice. In fact its probably the oldest custom in humanity’s history. When early man gathered around his fire the smell of aromatic woods, herbs and leaves was so pleasing he decided the fragrance would also be pleasing to the Gods. In early religious practice it symbolized the prayers of the faithful rising to Gods and Goddesses. Since ancient times incense has been used throughout the world to purify, create the proper atmosphere, change a mood and facilitate meditation or religious practice.

Copal

Copal incense is completely natural incense that is used to purify the energy of spaces, places and objects. It has a clean, light, woody scent that could be compared to pine or turpentine. You may choose to grind the frankincense prior to use or apply as is . It is excellent for protection, purification, consecration, exorcism, spiritual cleansing, meditation, etc. Frankincense is one of the most popular incense in the world. When in doubt as to what incense to use you cannot go wrong with Frankincense.

Myrrh

Myrrh is an aromatic gum resin. It has been a popular resin and is mentioned in the bible over 22 times. It was used in religious rituals, embalming and as treatment for many serious diseases such as, syphilis, leprosy, cancer, etc. Its modern uses include, asthma, bronchitis, coughs, skin conditions, etc. For its spiritual value use as incense to bless, consecrate and purify persons, places and things. Use Myrrh to enhance all of your rituals. When you need to spiritually cleanse, eliminate negative influence , or attract blessings , use this ancient holy incense with confidence.

Three Kings

ThreeKings is a blend of Frankincense, Myrrh, Red and Black Benzoin. It is used for protection, spirituality and prosperity. Benzoin is a herb of purification, burned in incense to sanctify an area. Rose of Jericho, Rosa de Jerico

Today I put the Rose of Jericho Flower in my Altar again, I use to have one long time ago, when I use to be living in Puerto Rico but for some reason, I don't know why, I did not place one again in my altar until today! 

It looks so Beautiful! I just Like the smell of it!! It's Amazing how this dry Plant, Flower?! That is also call the resurrection flower Comes back to its green Color after it gets in contact with the water! Wow, it just crazy!! How Mother Nature could be! It amaze me everyday!! I just Love it! 

This Amazing Plant can also be use for spells of Love and Luck because of its resurrection benefits! It's a excellent gift from Nature for us the work the crafts.

Can you believe it can go dry fro many many years it don't matter how long! 

Place one in your altar like I did! In a white plate with some water, I change the water Everyday!!! Otherwise it gets Smelly! You don't want that in your spiritual altar ,so please make sure you cleanse the water everyday!

Spiritual Altar

Spiritual Altar

The Spiritual Altar , bóveda or eggun altar is the center of eggun (our Spiritis , Ancestors) worship in the religion. It is the place we most often go to to salute and to commune with eggun(our Spiritis , Ancestors) on a daily basis. You don't have to have passed through any of the initiations to begin your relationship with eggun (our Spiritis , Ancestors) and to set up a bóveda(aLTAR) is a fairly simple affair:

Cover a table or shelf with a white cloth. On this table or shelf place nine clear glasses of cool water. Also put a candle and a vase with fresh flowers (preferably white) on the table. You should also hang a cross( this is optional) over the table to represent Olofi -God and the Four Winds above the table or shelf.

On the floor, in front of the altar you should put a small cup with a little white (clear) rum in it. Not too much as you don't want eggun to get drunk as they won't be able to help you much if they are. On this cup you should place a cigar (unlit). If you drink coffee you should put a cup (preferably chipped as eggun physical forms were also broken) of black coffee to them (even if you take yours with cream and/or sugar).

You should now sprinkle your Boveda (Altar) with Florida Water, if you can get some. You should also sprinkle the boveda (Altar) with these things every so often.

If you have pictures of deceased relatives put these up on the Boveda(Altar), but do not include any pictures of the living. Also, no pictures of people who are not family.

Change the water, rum, cigar, candle and flowers every week, either every Monday evening or every Friday evening (your choice).

When you approach the boveda (Altar) you should talk to them and say who you are and what you have come to do, etc. And listen...given time your eggun will start to speak to you and you must listen. After a while you will be able to tell the difference between your thoughts and when eggun is talking. And always speak from your heart.
